Approximately the Russian occupiers took out up to a thousand children from the Kherson region.
Now work is underway to find out the place of residence of children who were taken out by Russian invaders from the Kherson region .
According to the head of the Kherson city military administration, Galina Lugova, children were taken out of Kherson educational institutions for the period of the autumn holidays, supposedly for rehabilitation on the left bank, and all the children from orphanages were also taken out.
“We know that the occupying authorities before leaving demanded that parents provide their children with the originals of their birth certificates. In fact, the enemy deported Kherson children. The location of the children taken out of schools, as well as orphanages, is unknown,” Lugovaya said.
According to her, a lot of efforts are now being made to find out where the children are now. Police officers, prosecutors, and the Security Service of Ukraine were involved in the search.
Lugovaya notes that it is impossible to establish the exact number of children who were taken away. But it is known that during the retreat, the occupiers took out children from the communities located on both banks of the Dnieper. From the information that we managed to collect, we can conclude that up to a thousand children were roughly taken out of the Kherson region.
Abduction by Russians of children in the occupied Kherson region
As UNIAN reported earlier, on October 21, the head of the Kherson OVA, Yaroslav Yanushevich, said that Russian invaders had kidnapped 46 children from the Kherson regional orphanage, calling it “evacuation.”
On October 23, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said that the Russian invaders had taken 12 children with disabilities to Crimea from the Oleshkovsky orphanage in the Kherson region.
On October 26, the head of the Kherson Regional Council, Oleksandr Samoilenko, reported that the occupiers had deported local children from the occupied Kherson region under the guise of rest. According to him, after a month of the so-called school education according to Russian standards, representatives of the occupation administration announced holidays and offered the children a trip for rehabilitation outside the Kherson region. In particular, to the territory of the Crimea and in the Russian Federation – to the Krasnodar Territory, the Rostov Region.
According to him, the children were taken out and kept for 2-3 weeks in good conditions, in conditionally “pioneer camps”, but then they refused to return the children.
Samoylenko stressed that representatives of the local Ukrainian authorities warned people not to let their children go, but the parents did not listen. The chairman of the regional council believes that some of them treated the proposal for a children’s holiday confidentially, someone “bought it for free.”
On September 1, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Pavel Sushko said that since the start of the full-scale war, at least 557,000 Ukrainian children have been illegally taken to Russia.
