More than 8,000 generators are brought to Ukraine every day – Shmyhal

From now on, every Ukrainian can import a generator or charging station from abroad without paying customs duties and VAT.

Against the background of enemy missile attacks on the energy system of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers will activate the import of generators.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Facebook , noting that from now on, every Ukrainian can import a generator or charging station from abroad without paying customs duties and VAT. 

The Prime Minister added that Ukraine receives financial support from partners and currently imports about 8,500 generator sets every day. 

“Canada has issued five-year government bonds worth 500 million Canadian dollars. Anyone can join in strengthening our country. The government has decided to attract an additional 4.5 billion dollars in grant funds from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. These resources we will send to social security and salaries of state employees. Next week, Ukraine will also receive 2.5 billion euros from the European Union,” the message says.

The war and the attack on the energy system of Ukraine:

On October 10, 2022, the Russian Federation launched attacks on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. In just one day, 30%  of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was damaged . 

Since October 10, attacks on critical infrastructure facilities have not stopped.

The occupiers are hitting  electric substations, hydropower and thermal generation facilities . Emergency power outages began across the country   .

On November 15, Russia  launched 100 missiles on the territory of Ukraine . It was the most massive shelling of Ukraine’s energy system since the beginning of the war. 

Russia is trying to  stop Ukrainian nuclear power plants . On November 17, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 10 million Ukrainians  were left without electricity . On the same day, an  anti-record for power outages was set in Kyiv .

On November 18, 2022, the KMDA advised Kyiv residents to  stock up on water and food . DTEK urged Ukrainians  to think about leaving the country  for the winter in order to save energy.

On November 19, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that the occupiers had destroyed about 50%  of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure  .
