The creation of volunteer battalions, which are planned to be sent to war in Ukraine, was announced by representatives of the community of the Naval Kronstadt St. Nicholas Cathedral, according to the Telegram channel Mash with reference to representatives of the diocese.

It is reported that the new organization has been named St. Andrew’s Cross, and that it is already training those mobilized under the law on partial mobilization.

The Russians will be prepared with the blessing of the primate of the church, Archimandrite Alexy (in the world, Alexander Ganzhin). In addition, volunteer battalions will be formed, and those who have completed military training are planned to be sent to Ukraine under their own flag.

Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the Russian PMC Wagner lost from 800 to 1,000 mercenaries in Ukraine, and in the last two months alone, more than 500 prisoners recruited into Wagner units have been liquidated.
