  1. God save and protect Ukraine from the putler’s nazi heathens.
And since divine providence cannot be relied upon, Ukrainians will be hoping that the allies will at last come to the rescue.
    NFZ now.
How many more innocents have to be murdered by putler before the correct action is finally taken?

      • Well, they will need to build a mighty military-industrial complex, as they will be on a war footing for what seems to be decades.
But that will take years and they desperately need help right now, to save precious lives.
The more putler’s orcs get taken out, the more savagery will be inflicted upon innocents.
Of course we all loathe, detest and despise the putinazis, but I have never felt such despair at the indifference of most of the world.
The genocide must be stopped in its tracks.

    • I disagree on the notion that Divine providence can not be relied on. God is still God, faithful and just. Though things may not make sense like why bad things happen to good people God is still in control and sovereign.
For an extensive overview of Divine providence here is an article explaining some of the nuances:

      Excepts from Catholic answers:
The question of Providence is almost invariably connected with the problem of evil. How can evil and suffering be compatible with the beneficent providence of an all-powerful God? And why especially should the just be allowed to suffer while the wicked are apparently prosperous and happy? Patristic solutions to these problems may be summed up under the following heads: (I) Sin is not ordained by the will of God, though it happens with His permission. It can be ascribed to Providence only as a secondary result.
      (2) Sin is due to the abuse of free will; an abuse which was certainly foreseen by God, but could have been prevented only by depriving man of his most noble attribute.
      (3) in this world man has to learn by experience and contrast, and to develop by the overcoming of obstacles.
      (4) One reason therefore why God permits sin is that man may arrive at once at a consciousness of righteousness and of his own inability to attain it, and so may put his trust in God.
      (5) For sin itself God is not responsible, but only for the evils that result as a punishment of sin.
      (6) Had there been no sin, physical evil would have been inconsistent with the Divine goodness.
(7)All physical evil, therefore, is the consequence of sin, the inevitable result of the Fall.

      • As an agnostic, I probably have a lot more in common with you; a man of the book, than I would with an atheist. This is because I have experienced things in my life that tend to confirm the existence of a benign God.
Unfortunately I have also experienced events in my life that tend to prove that God either does not exist, is dormant, or is indifferent.
Putler’s horror is so bad that sometimes when I wake up in the night, I have a momentary sense of relief because I think it is all my private nightmare and the world is still operating normally.
Then the terrible reality hits me: what is happening is actually real; there really is an active, malignant; possibly demonic presence in the world and I feel powerless.
Many Jews in the world alive today observe the rituals and attend synagogue, because they enjoy the opportunities for social and business interaction. But inside they feel dead, because so many of their ancestors were taken in an indescribably evil way. For example we know that some German guards actually threw babies into furnaces because they enjoyed hearing the screams.
It is certain that occupier orcs have also committed crimes that even Stephen King would not write about in one of his celebrated horror epics, simply because they are so gruesome.
Sadly I feel that putler’s horror may well cause many Ukrainians to lose their faith.
But right now, they can’t think about it because they still face a grave existential threat and are fighting for their and their children’s lives.
Being an agnostic does not stop me praying for a just peace. But my Protestant roots have been chucked out of the window because I also pray for vengeance, which is very Old Testament.

        • These last several months I’ve found myself praying the Psalms that call for the death of one’s enemies. As well as some very sharp outright curses of them. Yet from New Testament it is written: Romans 12:19 Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.” this does not mean evil shouldn’t be confronted or stood against. The Apostle Paul said to one whom opposed the Word of the Lord Acts 13:11 “O child of the devil and enemy of all righteousness, you are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery! Will you never stop perverting the straight ways of the Lord? 11 Now look, the hand of the Lord is against you, and for a time you will be blind and unable to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
Not sure what happened that has you to the point of “chucking Protestant roots out of the window.” But seems that God’s hand is still in your life and relationship with Him is what he wants, not religion. We make our requests known but His will be done. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways higher than our ways.
