Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained the so-called “chief of the Balakliia People’s Militia”, who tried to run away to occupied Luhansk Oblast after the liberation of Kharkiv Oblast.
Details: According to the investigation, a 48-year-old man from Balakliia colluded with representatives of the occupying forces and assumed the position of “chief” of the so-called “people’s militia of Balakliia”. In particular, from April to September, he recruited other workers, managed their activities, and organised joint patrols with the Russian occupying forces near critical infrastructure facilities.
According to the Office of the General Prosecutor, in September, the man tried to run away from Balakliia to the occupied Luhansk Oblast; however, he was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement officers in Kupiansk after the city was liberated. The ID card that the occupiers issued to the traitor was valid only until late 2022.
