Russian troops during the Ukrainian counter-offensive were forced to leave most of the occupied territory of the Kharkiv region, while “many of them” went abroad to Russia.

It is reported by CNN with reference to a Pentagon spokesman.

According to the US, Ukrainian troops “most likely took control of Kupyansk and Izyum in addition to small villages.

But the message about the abandoned Russian equipment testifies to “disorganized command and control.”

“Russian forces continue to concentrate their efforts from Seversk to Bakhmut, Bakhmut and remains in the spotlight, where the Russians can try to gain a foothold. We are still seeing heavy use of artillery and airstrikes,” a US Department of Defense official said.
