Please watch this short, sad, but important video about one Ukrainian family from Mariupol that was forced into a Russian ‘filtration” camp in March after their home and city was destroyed by Russian forces. While in the camp, the young Ukrainian girl was often subjected to taunts and insults from Russian soldiers and was repeatedly told, “You are Russian now.” She refused to acknowledge that lie and defiantly shot back, “No, I am Ukrainian!”
*If, after knowing the backstory of this family’s horrific ordeal, first in Mariupol and then in a Russian gulag, you can look at the photo of this young girl without shedding a tear, then you are a stronger person than I am.
I will never be able to erase this young girl’s anguished face from my memory. It will stay with me forever, as will my burning hatred of those who caused this anguish, this living nightmare, to become her reality. And, as is also true of the Ukrainian people: my memory is long.
Folks, please look at this photo once again, as painful as it may be, for this is the face of Ru**ia’s brutal rape of Ukraine.
