And most of the citizens of Hungary do not support the ban on the import of Russian oil to Europe and the training of the Ukrainian military by the European Union.
The vast majority of Hungarians do not support EU sanctions against Russia, oppose the ban on issuing visas to Russians, and do not agree with the supply of weapons to Ukraine by EU member states.
This is evidenced by data from a study by the think tank Századvég, reports Hungary Today.
“It appears that the sanctions already imposed have fallen short of expectations and plunged EU member states into crisis as attempts to phase out Russian energy sources have led to extreme uncertainty and rising oil, electricity and gas prices,” Századvég said in the report.
The poll, conducted on a sample of 1,000 people, shows that 81% are opposed to the EU and its members supplying arms to Ukraine, and the same level of opposition to the ban on Russian tourists. Only 16% and 17% of respondents agree with these two proposals.
“The vast majority of Hungarians want to see peace in neighboring countries, however, in their opinion, arming for Ukraine has the opposite effect, and in fact this contributes to the continuation of the war, which leads to further loss of life and the weakening of the European economy through the generation of war inflation,” the statement reads. research.Hungarians
In addition, the absence of Russian tourists will also negatively affect the income from European tourism and, accordingly, the economic performance of the continent, the study says.
The majority of respondents (78%) do not support a ban on the import of Russian oil to Europe, training of the Ukrainian military by the European Union (77%), a ban on imports and a final rejection of Russian gas (75%), or a ban on the import of Russian fuel and raw materials for nuclear power plants (74 %).
Hungarians also oppose a ban on the import of Russian coal (71%), goods and services from Russia to Europe (70%), Russian civil aircraft to Europe (68%) and a ban on the sale of European goods and services to Russia (67%).
The results of the poll show that only one of the sanctions enjoys the support of the majority: 57% of respondents agree with freezing the assets of Russian billionaires and oligarchs, while 37% do not agree with this.
