Anna Vorosheva, a successful businesswoman and volunteer from Mariupol, spent 100 days in the Yelenovskaya colony, the place where dozens of Ukrainian prisoners died on July 29. She spoke about the horrors she experienced there.

According to the TSN story, Anna lived in Mariupol and worked as a decorator and florist. After the outbreak of a full-scale war, she began to volunteer and evacuate people from the city. On March 27, she was detained at an enemy checkpoint and taken to the Yelenovskaya colony.

“Fear when you get a quarter of the bread. And tomorrow they bring you one-eighth of the bread. And the day comes when they bring you 1/16,” the woman recalls about her experience in the colony.

On the night of July 29, on the territory of the former penal colony in the occupied village of Yelenovka, as a result of an explosion, a building was destroyed, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept taken out of the Azovstal plant.

Immediately after the explosion, Russia accused the Armed Forces of Ukraine of shelling the penal colony. According to the Russian side, more than 50 Ukrainian defenders were killed , the number of wounded is unknown. The Ukrainian law enforcement agencies called the explosion in Yelenovka a Russian terrorist act to cover up war crimes, discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and disrupt the supply of weapons.

On August 2, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense stated that the Ukrainian side had not received official answers from Russia on the lists of those killed and wounded as a result of the terrorist attack, and there were no grounds to trust the lists published by the Russians on the Internet.

Also, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, reported that Russia was ready to return the bodies of the murdered defenders , but after the end of the “investigation”. How much time the occupiers will need for the “investigation” is unknown.
