GENERAL SITUATION
Still the calm before the storm…..
Russia is in strategic defence in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions with the apparent aim of trying to hold these regions. Russia has concentrated more than 60% of its forces stationed in Ukraine in the Kherson-Zaporizh region.
Russia is trying to keep the Donetsk offensive active, but for the time being they are only able to make minor progress.
The Russians attacked southeast of Siversk, around Bakhmut, and north and southwest of the city of Donetsk.
However, the focus of the war is actually now in the Zaporizhia-Kherson provinces.
Ukraine admitted today that Ukrainian special forces were behind yesterday’s attack on the Saky Naval Assault Aviation base in Crimea.
