This decision was allegedly agreed upon during a meeting between the Turkish leader and the Russian dictator.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during today’s talks with dictator Vladimir Putin, agreed to partially pay for Russian gas in rubles.
This is reported by the Russian RBC with reference to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
“We are gradually switching to payment in the national currency, part of the deliveries will already be paid in Russian rubles. This is really a new stage that opens up new opportunities, including for the development of our monetary and financial relations,” Novak said.
According to him, during the talks, the parties reached “very important decisions that bring our economic relations to a new level.” Novak also announced “agreements” in the financial and banking sector.
