Ukraine submitted an application for the purchase of 11 units of air defense systems from Diehl Defense in early July.
The transfer of German Iris-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine is delayed due to the lack of permission from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
DW writes about this with reference to Welt am Sonntag.
Ukraine submitted an application for the purchase of 11 units of air defense systems from Diehl Defense in early July. Kyiv also requested “financial support” from Berlin for the purchase of these air defense systems in the amount of 1.5 billion euros.
The deal was approved by the German Ministry of Economy, but the final permit must be issued by the Federal Security Council. The application remains without approval for three weeks.
According to Welt am Sonntag, delivery of the systems is now expected by the end of the year.
The day before, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said that the Iris-T SLM is still in production and will be ready for shipment at the end of summer.
