Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov noted that Ukraine is switching to armament according to NATO standards.

He said this on the air of the informational telethon on July 18, answering the question, Is it possible to hope that after the Ramstein-4 meeting, long-range projectiles up to 300 km will begin to be provided to Ukraine.

“Our country is moving to NATO standards. This is a very important thing. 155 Caliber, other NATO calibers. As for HIMARS, there is some understanding that we have already begun to receive shells that go much further than it was at the beginning. And let’s hope that what we need, of that range (shells – UNIAN), will soon appear on the territory of our country,” Danilov emphasized.play video

He noted that Soviet-caliber shells had previously been used, which had almost run out in Europe.

“There are Soviet-style shells, which were the so-called 152 and 122 caliber. Given that the war lasts a long period of time, a large number of shells are used daily. 152 and 122 caliber shells are almost running out in general in Europe, if not to say that already over,” Danilov said.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted that due to the supply of weapons in sufficient quantities, one can already say that parity with the Russian army has been achieved in relation to some positions.

“Today we really have a completely different situation, which was even months ago. Now, thanks to the fact that we receive a sufficient amount of weapons from our partners, we have established a certain parity in a certain position,” Danilov said.

At the same time, he noted that these weapons are still not enough to achieve an advantage in favor of the Ukrainian side and end the war as soon as possible with a victory for Ukraine, therefore, high hopes are placed on the Ramstein-4 meeting, which will take place in the coming days and where the issue of increasing arms supplies.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted that Ukraine’s needs for the necessary weapons are already partially being met.

“I emphasize once again that the situation has changed compared to what it was in March, in April, even what was in May … The main thing is that those planes that land every day in the nearest member state do not stop NATO, which is at our border. Work continues there 24 hours a day. We need to thank our partners that they do not stop this process, and thanks to our president, thanks to the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense. Everyone is working to ensure that we have weapons and they was modern,” Danilov emphasized.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 26, a meeting of defense ministers of almost 40 countries was held at the Ramstein airbase in Germany, during which a collective support group for Ukraine was launched, the purpose of which is to meet the defense needs of the Ukrainian army.

On June 15, a meeting of the contact group on the defense of Ukraine (the so-called “Ramstein-3”), led by the United States, took place. Then it became known that Germany would transfer three multiple rocket launchers with guided missiles to Ukraine. Slovakia will provide Mi series helicopters to Ukraine, while Canada, Poland and the Netherlands will provide artillery. The United States also announced the transfer of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems.

  1. “…there is some understanding that we have already begun to receive shells that go much further than it was at the beginning.”

That sounds very promising. Just don’t say too much!

“At the same time, he noted that these weapons are still not enough to achieve an advantage in favor of the Ukrainian side and end the war as soon as possible with a victory for Ukraine, therefore, high hopes are placed on the Ramstein-4 meeting, which will take place in the coming days and where the issue of increasing arms supplies.”

For the umpteenth time, why doesn’t the West finally give Ukraine what it needs?

“We need to thank our partners that they do not stop this process…”

Indeed, despite everything, we say a big thank you to our supporters for what we did get!
