2 million of our people were taken to Russia, their documents are taken away, they are intimidated.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this while addressing the participants of the Asian Leadership Conference, which is taking place in Seoul (South Korea).

He noted that the Russian Federation had already deported such a number of people from Ukraine.

“Several hundred thousand children – no one can name the exact number now,” the President stressed.

According to him, all these deported people are deprived of means of communication, their documents are taken away. They are being intimidated and trying to take them to remote regions of Russia so that it is as difficult as possible for them to return home, to their homeland, the president said.

“How will we then gather our people from all the places where people were forcibly taken out?” he said.

He stressed that Russia forcibly created the so-called filtration camps, through which it forces people to pass in the occupied territories.

“Tens of thousands of people stay there. Young women disappear there. I think you all understand what is happening to them there,” the President of Ukraine said.

The occupiers forcibly take out the Ukrainians and force them to go through “filtration”

As UNIAN reported earlier, on June 23, the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories announced that it was planned to create a transport corridor from Latvia and Estonia to Ukraine specifically for deported Ukrainians who manage to get out of Russia to the territory of these Baltic countries.

On June 10, Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said that more than 16,000 people who had escaped from Russian “filtration camps” had been returned to Ukraine.

As reported in the OPORA Civic Network, according to approximate data, more than 1 million Ukrainians passed through the occupiers’ filtration camps .
