Drones can return to base even with significant damage.
Ukrainian defenders admire the quality of Bayraktar TB2 reconnaissance and strike drones and how they can “hold” a blow.
This was told by one of the Bayraktar TB2 operators, a senior military intelligence officer of Ukraine with the call sign “Odessa” in an interview with The Times .
According to him, almost all of the drone’s flight systems are duplicated, so it can return, even despite significant damage.
According to him, once the Russian S-300 complex discovered his Bayraktar TB2 near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant:
“I saw a rocket launch and explosion nearby and lost contact. We were very upset because we thought we had lost the drone. But a few hours later the drone miraculously returned and made an emergency landing at the airfield – it was damaged, but “survived”. Moreover, this drone was later repaired and “did a lot more good work.”
There is also a known case when a Russian aircraft hit Bayraktar TB2 with an air-to-air missile – the drone continued flying, but the operator was forced to abort the mission. Despite this, the UAV was able to return to base, albeit with significant damage.
Recall, earlier it was reported that the other day Lithuania sent Bayraktar to Ukraine, the money for which was collected by the whole country .
Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish strike operational-tactical medium-altitude UAV with an internal combustion engine and a pusher-type propeller.
The drone can stay in the air for 12 to 24 hours. The maximum control range is up to 150 kilometers.
