The European Investment Bank is ready to take part in the restoration of Mariupol .

According to the Telegram of the Mariupol City Council, Markus Berndt, Deputy Executive Director of the European Investment Bank, said this at the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in Lugano (Switzerland).

“We helped build kindergartens, hospitals and other infrastructure that was destroyed. We aim to do it again in an even better way than before,” said the EIB representative.

He expressed confidence that the determination of the political elites will make it possible to find financial resources. At the same time, the investments of the EIB, EBRD, World Bank will become a catalyst for individuals and businesses. According to him, this is an investment in the future of Europe and the free world.

During an online speech at the Conference, the mayor of the city, Vadim Boychenko, noted that as a result of Russian terror in Mariupol, almost 2,600 high-rise buildings were damaged in one way or another, and the entire utility infrastructure was completely destroyed. However, according to him, a major plan for the revival of the city is already being developed. This will be the “Marshall Plan” for Mariupol.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Teresa Chervinska, EIB Vice President, announced today at the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine that the bank will allocate an additional $700 million to Ukraine.

In early April, the European Investment Bank transferred 668 million euros in emergency aid to Ukraine.
