Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. During the meeting, Shoigu, according to Interfax , officially reported to the president on the “liberation of the Luhansk People’s Republic.”
Putin, in turn, ordered to give a rest to the units of the “Center” group, which took an active part in the battles in the Lugansk direction.
Putin also announced the conferment of the title of Hero of Russia to the commander of the Center group, Colonel General Alexander Lapin and the deputy commander of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District, Major General Esedulla Abachev.
Shoigu reported to the President that the armed forces “continue a special military operation.” Putin, in turn, said that he had received a report from the commander of the Central Military District, Alexander Lapin, and the commander of the Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, in which the generals put forward “their proposals for the development of an offensive operation.”
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the losses of the Ukrainian side in the Lugansk direction amounted to 2218 people killed and 3251 wounded. The minister did not report to the president about the losses of the Russian army.
