Representatives of the invading administrations of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions have created more than 200 permanent and temporary places of illegal detention of captured Ukrainian military personnel and civilians.

Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova announced this on Facebook on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

“Representatives of the occupation administrations of Russia in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions have created more than 200 permanent and temporary places of illegal detention of captured Ukrainian servicemen and civilians, including journalists and volunteers,” Venediktova said.

According to her, more than 4,000 people have already passed through these prisons, most of whom were subjected to torture and inhuman treatment.

Speaking about the dungeons of “Izolyatsia” – a place of concentration of torture and bullying, Venediktova said that this week the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General, together with investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the SBU, completed a pre-trial investigation against the ex-head of this illegal prison in Donetsk, Denis Kulikovsky, known by the nickname ” Palych”.

The Prosecutor General noted that Kulikovsky will appear before the court after reviewing the materials collected by the investigation on his organization of interrogations, rape in an unnatural way, electric shock torture, imitations of execution, placement for several hours in a wooden coffin hammered with nails.

Also, according to her, the other day, another 12 members of the terrorist organization “DPR” from among the “operational and investigative workers” of the so-called “Ministry of State Security” were reported suspected on the territory of the Izolyatsia plant and the Donetsk Administrative Court of Appeal in order to coerce victims were subjected to physical force and torture by electric current to give false testimony.

“In addition, 5 members of the DPR terrorist organization were suspected of systematically using torture and physical violence against those held in the Gorlovka correctional colony No. 27,” Venediktova said.

At the same time, she expressed her conviction that after these facts of incredible cruelty, Ukraine must show through its own practice of justice that torture cannot become a method of warfare that can be justified.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian invaders created at least 20 filtration camps  and prisons in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

  1. Putlerism is equal to Nazism and Stalinism in savagery. Most people don’t believe that, but it’d be better for them to wake up to today’s new, cruel reality.
