Ukraine latest as the UK’s MoD says documents indicate thousands of Russian millionaires are trying to flee their country; the British head of the armed forces predicts Putin cannot take control of Ukraine; report says Russian troops were poisoned by cherries they stole.
In a very combative speech, the Russian leader has repeatedly taken aim at America and the West and issued bold claims about the future.
The president’s rhetoric was familiar and, in truth, did not contain any standout revelations or warnings despite the Kremlin’s earlier insistence it was “extremely important”.
Here are some of the key quotes from the address, with Mr Putin discussing everything from God to the Donbas.
On the US:
“When they won the Cold War, the US declared themselves God’s own representatives on earth, people who have no responsibilities – only interests.
“They have declared those interests sacred. Now it’s one-way traffic, which makes the world unstable.
“Nothing will be as it used to be in global politics”
On the West:
“They think everyone else is their colony – if they are exceptional, the rest are second-class citizens.”
On economic sanctions:
“The economic blitzkrieg against Russia never had any chances of success. And the weaponry of sanctions is a double-edged sword.”
On the ‘special military operation’:
“Our special operation on the Donbas is a life buoy for them to blame Russia for their own mistakes.”

Putler is clearly losing his marbles.

Says the mafia boss, who committed atrocities in Georgia, Chechnya, Syria, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and in Russia itself and started vicious wars with WWII-type destruction of cities and infrastructure.

The dumbass is even dumber in history than I thought. Europe gave up just about every colony it had. Concurrently, Russia is adding – or trying to add – more territories, speak, colonies. A classical kettle calling the pot black.
