President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, called the DPR and LPR quasi-state territories. According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan does not recognize their independence.
Tokayev stated this while answering questions at the plenary session of the forum in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Tokayev, an open society has developed in Kazakhstan, in which different opinions are expressed about the Russian “special operation” in Ukraine. Tokayev noted that there is a contradiction between two principles – the territorial integrity of states and the right of nations to self-determination.
Tokayev said that Kazakhstan would not recognize the independence of either Taiwan, or Kosovo, or Abkhazia, or South Ossetia.
