Russia-Ukraine war: Ukrainian missiles ‘strike Russian naval tugboat’

June 17

Ukrainian missiles on Friday hit a Russian naval tugboat transporting soldiers, weapons, and ammunition to the Russian-occupied Zmiinyi island south of the Odesa region, the local Ukrainian governor said.

Odesa region governor Maksym Marchenko named the tugboat as the Vasiliy Beg. No further details are available yet.

It comes as the UK’s armed forces chief has said Russia has “strategically lost” the war in Ukraine and is now a “more diminished power”, both diplomatically and economically than several months ago.

In an interview published on Friday, Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said Vladimir Putin had lost 25 per cent of Russia’s land power to reap only “tiny” gains.

He said while Russia may achieve “tactical successes” in the coming weeks, the idea the war had been a success was “nonsense”.

“President Putin has used about 25 per cent of his army’s power to gain a tiny amount of territory and 50,000 people either dead or injured,” Admiral Radakin said.

  1. Unfortunately the Admiral is not quite correct. The putinazis held 7% of sovereign Ukraine territory prior to Feb 24. They now have tripled that, which is why Boris and Biden must increase the level of help by 300% at least.

Let’s hope now for a flow of good news that escalates into an unstoppable flood!
I strongly dislike these constant predictions from military men and politicians that this Holocaust will go on for years.
If it does, it will be a massive failure by the Budapest signatories.

  2. Such actions will make the occupation of the island impossible. The occupiers on the island will eventually starve to death. Not saying that this is a bad thing, though.

  3. This tugboat even had the Tor anti-aircraft missile system on board, which says a lot for both the ship and the missile syste. Ukraine are so lucky that the orcs are very slow learners.
