Housing is being built for the military and those who will serve the military base of the Russians.

The Russian occupiers began the construction of a five-story building on the outskirts of Mariupol . 

According to the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petr Andryushchenko, the construction is being carried out by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation

“At the same time, they are building fortification lines of defense nearby. On the spot, the builders do not hide the fact that they are building housing for the military and those who will serve the military base of the Russians,” he said.

Andryushchenko also stressed that this is not enough to cover the needs of the city destroyed by the invaders.

“The capacity of the announced housing is 1015 apartments. On average, 3,000 Mariupol residents may receive at least such housing. However, this is the need of only 2 percent of all those who are in the city. Currently, others are preparing temporary concrete one-story structures such as a hostel with rooms for 8 people and tents. But again, these are needs for 1 percent of the population,” he said.

The mayor’s adviser is convinced that, first of all, collaborators will receive housing, and besides, the residents will be used as human shields.

“In the end, this construction has nothing to do with caring for people. It is expected. But at least one could be happy about some of the Mariupol residents if they were not used as human shields,” he sums up.
