According to the mayor’s adviser, the tricolor against the background of the destroyed burnt houses on Lenin Square is symbolic.

In Mariupol , the invaders renamed Svoboda Square into Lenin Square and raised their tricolor over it.
This was announced by the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petr Andryushchenko.
According to him, the invaders returned the old name of Lenin Square to Mariupol Freedom Square, which the Mariupol City Council renamed on June 30, 2015.
“The invaders renamed Freedom Square in Mariupol into Lenin Square and raised their tricolor over it. What symbolism is the tricolor against the background of the destroyed burnt houses on Lenin Square. I thought, how will they change “Mariupol” to “Mariupol” in the inscriptions on the square?” he noted.
