Ukraine’s army has destroyed a base used by mercenaries from Russia’s Wagner private military company in the Russian-occupied town of Kadiivka (formerly Stakhanov) in Luhansk Oblast, the region’s governor said on June 10.

“The Ukrainian safari continues: The Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed a base of the Wagner group in occupied Luhansk Oblast,” Serhiy Hayday wrote in a post on his Facebook page. 

He added that the Ukrainian military had carried out a precision strike on the base, which was located at the local stadium in the center of Kadiivka.

“Yesterday our military struck a powerful blow in the center of Kadiivka, where the Wagner mercenaries were located,” Hayday added later on national television.

“According to our data, only one mercenary survived. The rest died under the rubble.”

Earlier this week, Ukrainian journalist Roman Bochkala reported the destruction of the Wagner base in Kadiivka.
