
Russia’s largest carmaker, AvtoVAZ, began production of a “simplified” version of the Lada Granta on June 8 after several months of downtime.
At the same time, the volume of production of even “simplified” cars, according to unofficial data, will now be only 68 units per day, according to the Russian news agency RBC .
According to the agency’s sources, such a small number of cars produced is due to changes in the technological process, the company hopes that the volume of production of simplified Lada Granta will increase.
According to the agency, the car will be supplied to Russian dealers in two configurations. The simplest sedan will have no ABS, airbags and alarm button ERA-GLONASS. In addition, Granta will be equipped with an old steering wheel from Lada Kalina.
In the more expensive version, the car is equipped with power windows and power steering. However, most conventional systems will still not be in it.
Both configurations will receive an outdated 1.6-liter engine with 90 hp. low ecological class.
