The abductees are forced to sign a contract under the threat of spending an indefinite time in “secret” prisons.
In Chechnya , men are kidnapped to be sent to war in Ukraine.
This was told by an interlocutor from the Vayfond human rights association, Kavkaz.Realii reports .
It is noted that several Chechen human rights organizations and bloggers spoke about the appeals they receive from residents of Chechnya, who are kidnapped to be sent as “volunteers” to the war against Ukraine. According to them, the abductees are forced to sign a contract under the threat of spending an indefinite time in “secret” prisons.
“They and their families are threatened, forcing them to sign papers. Although they categorically did not want to go to war, it is against their will. Moreover, in case of injury or death, extremely small amounts are prescribed in the documents, not those that propaganda says,” the interlocutor said.
The fund noted that we are talking about dozens of people:
“They write with great distrust, anonymously, they try in every possible way not to identify themselves, they clean up the correspondence. There are people whom we know personally, who also faced this problem. They, seeing the hopelessness of the situation and realizing that they will have to go to Ukraine, ask how they are already in place to go over to the side of the Chechen battalion named after Sheikh Mansour.”
The representative of the association clarified that among those who are forced to become “volunteers”, there are people with disabilities, as well as those who have nothing to do with government or law enforcement agencies. There are also civil servants who were obliged to sign an application for joining the “volunteers”, but so far they are not sent to the front, but are kept in reserve.
