According to Petr Andryushchenko, the occupiers issue Russian passports to Mariupol residents without obtaining intermediate citizenship of the so-called “DPR”.
Advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, said that Russia had begun the actual annexation of the port city .
Today, the so-called “DPR” gave a start to Mariupol and the newly occupied territories of the Donetsk region to obtain Russian passports without obtaining a passport of the so-called “DPR”. The actual annexation of Mariupol has begun, he added.
Andryushchenko recalled that earlier residents of the occupied territories had the opportunity to quickly obtain Russian citizenship only if they had a DPR passport. Now, all citizens who are registered in the Donetsk region can get a passport with a double-headed eagle under an accelerated procedure.
What came before
On May 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified Russian citizenship for residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Putin’s decree is legally null and void and will not have legal consequences. In particular, this decision will not affect the belonging of the residents of the territories temporarily occupied by Russia to the citizenship of Ukraine.
It was also reported that in the destroyed Mariupol, the invaders plan to launch four schools by the end of the month . Mariupol teachers are no longer left with a choice, directly and indirectly threatening “negative” consequences.
