A spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said Poland’s position on Russia was bordering on insanity.
“We are now seeing the crazy position of the Polish authorities on the verge of madness. Therefore, there is hardly anything worthwhile and predictable,” Peskov said of the situation with the transit of Russian gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline.
According to him, Poland “has long refused to pay for gas” and gets it more expensive “under the well-known bypass scheme” (buy or pay).
As previously reported, Poland has terminated its gas supply contract with Russia.
On April 27, the Russian monopoly Gazprom completely suspended gas supplies to the Bulgarian company Bulgargaz and the Polish PGNiG due to a refusal to pay for gas in rubles contrary to the contract.
On May 21, Gazprom cut off gas supplies to Finland for the same reason . Finland’s Gasum has sued Gazprom to demand payment in rubles.
