The invaders kept 350 Ukrainians with children in the basement of their “headquarters” in the Chernihiv region for a month, using them as human shields .
This was reported in the office of the Attorney General.
“It has been established that from March 3 to March 31, 2022, in the basement of the Yahodnyansky branch of the Kulichevskaya secondary school of the Ivanovsky village council of the Chernihiv region, the occupiers held civilians. In a room with an area of 197 square meters, there were more than 350 locals for almost a month, of which 77 were children, including 5 babies The youngest child was one and a half months old, and the oldest hostage was 93. In fact, the people who were kept in the basement were used as human shields, since the school building was the “headquarters” of the occupiers,” the prosecutor’s office informs.
It is noted that due to inhuman conditions of detention – lack of sufficient space, sanitary conditions, access to air, food, water – 10 elderly people died.
The prosecutors of the Chernihiv region made a joint visit with experts from the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to the village of Yagodnoye to record war crimes of the Russian Federation.
It is also reported that out of 180 houses of the settlement, 148 were damaged, 16 were destroyed to the ground. It was established that seven villagers were shot by the enemy.
According to eyewitnesses, during the occupation, the Russian military robbed the houses of the villagers. Washing machines, televisions, microwave ovens, electric kettles and other valuables were stolen.
