The European Union does not recognize a single occupied square kilometer of Ukraine as part of Russia.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Vice President of the European Commission, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell said this at a briefing after the EU Council meeting at the level of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

In particular, he was asked how Russia’s actions to declare the occupied Ukrainian territories part of Russia would affect the possibility of establishing a ceasefire.

“We do not recognize a single square kilometer of Ukrainian land seized by the Russians. Just as we did not recognize Crimea, we do not recognize any part of Ukraine that will be declared part of the Russian Federation. We defend the territorial integrity of Ukraine. And when we say that we hope, that Ukraine will win this war, this means that they (Ukrainians – Ed.) will be able to push the invaders beyond their borders,” the head of European diplomacy said.

Recall that  on February 24, early in the morning, Russian troops invaded Ukraine  and called the war in our country a “special operation”, in particular, to “denazify” our fellow countrymen. The Russian Federation managed to capture a number of Ukrainian settlements, including Kherson and Energodar. The member states of the European Union and the United States decided to help Kiev – they  imposed new sanctions against Moscow  and provided the Ukrainian side with weapons.
