The Swedish government intends to formally apply to join NATO on Tuesday 17 May.

An official letter with Sweden’s application to join NATO will be delivered on Tuesday in Brussels to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg or his representatives.
The corresponding decision will not be made public officially, since the ruling Social Democratic Party has not yet completed an internal discussion. It is reported that since the opponents of the country’s accession to NATO remained in the minority, it is expected that on the evening of May 15, officials will announce the approval of the NATO course.
