So, the leaders of the Tomsk, Saratov, Kirov regions, as well as the Republic of Mari El, announced on May 10 that they were leaving their posts. At the same time, the head of the Ryazan region said that he did not intend to go for a new term.

According to the publication, the Kremlin is firing weak governors due to the worsening economic prospects for Russia caused by sanctions. The new leaders of the regions will be tasked with restructuring the economy, especially in regions where restrictions have caused the most damage. Elections of governors should be held in September this year.

As UNIAN previously reported, on May 10, Russian media reported that the governors of the Saratov, Kirov, Tomsk and Ryazan regions of the Russian Federation ,  as well as the Republic of Mari El , resigned .

Back in early March, the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council reported that 80% of the personnel of the invaders from the city of Saratov were killed.
