The Russians will probably not be able to prevent the UAF counterattack even with additional forces.

The UAF counter -offensive has further expanded to the northeast of Kharkov, and is likely to move towards the border with Russia in the coming days or weeks.
This is stated in the new report of the American Institute for the Study of War as of the morning, May 7th.
Ukrainian forces continue to fight back the Russian advance on Barvenkovo (southwest of Izyum) and the Russians appear to have given up on trying to push straight southeast towards Sloviansk.
Analysts also write that the Armed Forces of Ukraine likely fought off further Russian attacks immediately west of Izyum in the villages of Zavody and Velikaya Kamyshevakha.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive is probably aimed at driving Russian troops out of the Kharkov artillery destruction zone and reaching the border with Russia – to the Belgorod region.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are forcing Russian units intended for deployment elsewhere to redeploy to the Kharkiv direction in order to stop Ukrainian attacks.
“Given the current pace of advancement of Ukrainian forces, the Russians may not be able to prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from reaching the border with Russia, even with additional reinforcements … The Ukrainian counter-offensive shows promising opportunities and could create conditions for further offensive operations in the north-east of Kharkiv region,” – says in the report.
What came before
In the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , it was indicated that Russia was pulling together two battalion tactical groups from the 35th Combined Arms Army in the Izyum direction.
The occupiers fired at the already abandoned settlements and are trying to prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from reaching the border with Russia.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, on May 5, the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched counter-offensive operations in the Kharkiv and Izyum directions.
On May 6, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region regained control over the settlements of Aleksandrovka, Fedorovka, Ukrainka, Shestakovo, Pobeda and part of the village of Cherkassky Tishki.
Due to the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , the invaders blew up three bridges .

It is clear that the Ukrainian military’s first objective, is to prevent more destruction to Kharkiv and that is why it has launched the counterattack in this area. I assume that once the cockroach artillery is out of range, then Ukraine could either cross the border and bring war to mafia land, or initiate another counterattack to retake Kherson or even Mariupol.
These Himars have the range to fire on Moscow from the NE of Ukraine. That would give Putler something to think about, a huge explosion in the middle of his nazi parade on Monday.
I’d love a few missiles landing on Red Square during the “victory” parade.
And write on it, “To Russia with Love”?
You can do that with a SAM? From Uncle Sam? 😉
I think you’re right too. I would imagine we leave some muscle there to keep out their supplies but yeah, get busy pushing in Mykoliaiv and Kherson
