The Israeli government decided to increase humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine after insulting statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
This is reported by the newspaper Haaretz .
The publication notes that the increase in assistance will be a “significant step”, although the country does not plan to transfer to Ukraine any weapons that could help the Armed Forces of Ukraine conduct offensive operations. It is also not planned to transfer air defense systems, modern weapons and strike systems to Ukraine.
The decision to increase humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine was likely the result of Israel’s chilling relations with the Kremlin amid Lavrov’s offensive statements, writes Haaretz.
Israeli officials were outraged by Lavrov’s reproaches, while Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called them ” unforgivable and outrageous.”
