Biden appoints new commander of NATO forces in Europe

The candidacy was put forward by US President Joe Biden, it was also agreed upon in the alliance.

General Christopher Cavoli, who served as commander of the US Army in Europe and Africa, will become the Supreme Commander of NATO Allied Forces in Europe.

This was  reported  in the Pentagon. According to the US Department of Defense, Cavoli’s candidacy was nominated by US President Joe Biden, and it was also agreed upon in the alliance.

Army General Christopher J. Cavoli (nominated) for appointment to the rank of general while serving as Supreme Allied Commander Europe. NATO has also agreed to appoint General Cavoli Supreme Allied Commander Europe, NATO said in a statement. In addition to his position in NATO, General Cavoli will also be appointed commander of the US European Command.

Cavoli will replace Tod Walters, who has worked at NATO for three years, as commander of NATO forces in Europe.

  1. Well this General graduated from Yale University with a Master of Arts in Russian and East European Studies in 1997 so let’s hope he knows what he’s doing even though he was born in Germany.
