Russia has imposed personal sanctions on 287 of the 650 members of the House of Commons of the British Parliament, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. The restrictions were a response to the inclusion in the British sanctions list of 386 State Duma deputies.
A list of names of British parliamentarians who fell under Russian sanctions is published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. They are banned from entering Russia.
The Russian ministry said that these members of the British Parliament “took the most active part in the establishment of anti-Russian sanctions instruments in London, and also “contribute to the baseless whipping up of Russophobic hysteria in the UK.”
“The hostile rhetoric and far-fetched accusations coming from the mouths of British parliamentarians not only condone the hostile course of London, aimed at demonizing our country and its international isolation, but are also used by opponents of a mutually respectful dialogue with Russia to undermine the foundation of bilateral cooperation,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
