Ukrainian children, who were taken to the territory of Russia by the occupiers, will be retrained into Russian.
Senator Liliya Gumerova made a report on this issue at a meeting of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
“Many children from the liberated territories do not speak Russian sufficiently to master our general education program,” she said live at a meeting of the Federation Council.
“Liberated territories” Senator Gumerova calls the Ukrainian lands temporarily occupied by the Russian military. Massive violence has taken place and is taking place there, including the killing of Ukrainian citizens, and these acts have signs of genocide.
Now these crimes are supplemented by ethnocide against Ukrainian citizens, whom the occupiers transported to Russia in order to move them to the sparsely populated Siberian and Far Eastern regions.
According to the generally accepted definition, ethnocide is the process of destroying the national identity, self-consciousness of the people without its physical destruction. According to Gumerova’s report, this is exactly what the invaders are doing now.
In particular, the process of “retraining” Ukrainian children for subsequent education in Russian school programs has already begun. According to her, students and high school students will be involved in the process of ethnocide.
The world community condemns ethnocide, and in cases where there is a transfer of children from one human group to another, equates it to genocide (according to paragraph “e” of Article II of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide).
According to the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova, the invaders took 144,000 Ukrainian children to Russia. The abduction of children by the occupying country and their removal to remote regions is also a violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
Note: Lilia Salavatovna Gumerova is not just a senator and candidate of pedagogical sciences. For seven years now, she has been heading the “Council of the Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of the Bashkirs.”
According to UNESCO, Gumerova’s native Bashkir language (of the Turkic group) is endangered . The next step towards its complete destruction was taken by the Russian authorities in 2019. Then the study of the native language in Bashkir schools became voluntary , and now many parents are happy to refuse this subject for their children.
Now, apparently, Gumerova decided to take up the “final solution” of the issue of the Ukrainian language as well. Of course, in the future she will face a fair punishment in the form of a long term of imprisonment.
