In the exclusion zone, the Russian invaders looted and destroyed the latest laboratory worth 6 million euros.

This was reported by the State Agency of Ukraine for the management of the exclusion zone.

“The Russian occupants plundered and destroyed the newest Central Analytical Laboratory in Chernobyl, which is a unique complex with powerful analytical capabilities that can provide services at any stage of radioactive waste management, from conditioning to disposal, as well as at the stage of research and development of technologies,” – the message says.

It is noted that this project, aimed at improving the infrastructure for radioactive waste management, was successfully implemented in 2015.

“Almost 100 units of the most modern value analytical equipment, which has no analogues in Europe,” the agency said.

Thus, the laboratory performed strategic and unique functions.

In particular, characterization of samples of radioactive waste from the Chernobyl exclusion zone by physical, chemical and radiation indicators; analytical assistance in checking the conformity of the state of packages of conditioned waste to specifications; development of the necessary methods for the implementation of control and standardization.

In addition, the provision of analytical services in matters of state expertise of nuclear and radiation safety and control over the fulfillment of license conditions in the implementation of activities in the field of radioactive waste management; consulting support for government bodies in matters of ways to implement the Concept for the Development of the Exclusion Zone (redisposal of radioactive waste, selection of a site for the creation of a repository for radioactive waste, monitoring of the exclusion zone, etc.); expert-analytical and methodological support for participants in the RW management process (exclusion zone facilities, NNEGC “Energoatom”, etc.).

“On the basis of the laboratory there were highly active samples and samples of radionuclides, which are now in the hands of the enemy, which, we hope, will harm himself, and not the civilized world,” the department added.

  1. Considering how hard putin is trying to blame Ukraine for chemical weapons it wouldn’t surprise me if they try to use these stolen samples in a provocation.
