The US Senate has unanimously passed a resolution calling for an investigation into Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal.

The resolution was introduced by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and supported by senators from both parties, according to Reuters and Associated Press .

The Senate strongly condemns “violence, war crimes, crimes against humanity” committed by the Russian armed forces under Putin.

The resolution calls on the International Criminal Court in The Hague and other countries to investigate Russian President Vladimir Putin and his regime, including the Russian military, regarding war crimes committed during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“All of us in this room have united with Democrats and Republicans to say that Vladimir Putin cannot escape responsibility for the atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people,” said Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Recall that on February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation launched a war against independent Ukraine and staged real terror in the country. The Russians are shelling peaceful Ukrainian cities with heavy weapons, killing the civilian population, including children and women.

After the start of the Russian invasion, civilized countries imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation. The restrictions concerned the circulation of currency in the country, debt obligations, sanctions against Russian banks, etc. The exchange rate of the ruble soared almost 4 times in just two weeks of the war. Analysts predict the Russian economy will default in April this year.

Global manufacturers and brands began to massively leave the Russian market of the Russian Federation. Although some international companies still continue to work there and pay taxes to the aggressor country, which it directs to kill Ukrainians.

  1. Why wait until now? What happened to all his war crimes in Syria? Why did it take thousands of Ukrainian lives to wake everyone up? It took the courage of Ukrainians to wake everyone up.
