Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, says the Alliance will intensify the provision of modern air defense systems to Ukraine. 

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Stoltenberg said this at a briefing in Brussels on the eve of an emergency meeting of the Alliance’s defense ministers.

In particular, he was asked why NATO and the US insist that combat aircraft would not be useful for Ukraine when Ukrainians express a different opinion.

“NATO allies provide many different types of equipment, including advanced air defense systems that actually helped the Ukrainians shoot down Russian planes and Russian missiles, and allies continue to provide support when it comes to various types of air defense systems as well,” he said. Stoltenberg. 

“But I’m not going to go into details of each type of supply, each type of support, exactly how and where, because I think that this will only complicate the provision of this kind of support. NATO member countries are increasing the provision of modern air defense systems,” Stoltenberg stressed. .
