Ukraine supported the creation of an international tribunal to punish the Russian leadership for the crime of aggression as against the Nazis.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Kuleba on Facebook.
“On February 24, the Russian Federation launched a new stage of aggression, a full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine. In speeches before and during the invasion, the President of the Russian Federation detailed the motives for his actions. He publicly denied the right of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people to exist, which indicates a misanthropic ideology at the heart of the crime Russian aggression,” Kuleba notes.
In this regard, Ukraine, together with partners, initiated a number of international legal processes to bring criminals to justice. We are talking about cases in the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the European Court of Human Rights and others.
So, in the course of these processes, individual violations and crimes during the aggression are considered. At the same time, all of them are derivatives of the main crime – the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
“Given the unprecedented nature of unprovoked aggression in more than 80 years and the lack of appropriate international legal mechanisms to hold the Russian Federation and its leadership accountable for such a grave crime against humanity, I supported the initiative of the international scientific community to create a special tribunal to consider the case of the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Kuleba stressed.
He added that a coalition of states would take part in the creation of the tribunal. Ukraine, meanwhile, is collecting all the evidence relating to the crime of aggression against it, and is grateful to its partners for their willingness to support this work.
“The precedent for the creation of such an instrument of international justice was already in the last century. In January 1942, in London, representatives of nine states signed a declaration that laid the foundations of the Nuremberg Tribunal,” the Foreign Minister noted.
Kuleba is grateful to leading experts in international law who developed a draft declaration and statement calling for the creation of a special tribunal to punish the leadership of the Russian Federation for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
“I emphasize separately that the work on the creation of the tribunal does not replace, but complements the existing cases for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the aggression, which are now being investigated in the international criminal court, as well as the processes initiated by Ukraine in the international court of the UN and the European Court of Human Rights. person,” the minister said.
The Foreign Minister expressed his conviction that by joint efforts it would be possible to hold the Russian Federation and its leadership accountable for the crime of aggression.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 at around 5:00 am. Putin called the war with a sovereign state a “military operation” supposedly designed to “demilitarize” and “denazify” the country.
The occupiers, with unprecedented audacity and cruelty, are shelling residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns, using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
Moscow’s actions were condemned by virtually the whole world.

Putnazis need to denazify themselves. Their putrid, hateful rhetoric is stomach-turning.
Their propaganda, projection and revisionist history has led them to this place. They have ignored Ukrainian history so they don’t understand why or how Ukrainians can stand up the 2nd strongest military in the world.
Now Putin and his mob will have to pay the price. I hope Zelensky is preparing the surrender conditions for Putin and I hope they include handing over Sevastopol and Kaliningrad to the civilized world so that the ruSSo-nazis can never again use these places to further Moscow’s fascist tendencies.
Mafia land is definitely a fascist entity and should be treated as such. The entire “government” should be imprisoned for life for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
If convicted of crimes against humanity, they should executed.
