Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Boris Johnson has announced an additional 175 million pounds to support Ukraine.
According to a message on the website of the British government, Johnson said this at a joint press conference with Prime Ministers of Canada Justin Trudeau and the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
As Johnson said, Britain today joins the Netherlands and Canada in mobilizing more practical and sustainable support for Ukraine.
In particular, the new International Support Team for Ukraine will coordinate the efforts of the international community to provide multi-line and unwavering support, both now and in the future. “And we will encourage more countries to join us,” Johnson said.
He added that the time has come to create a coalition of humanitarian, economic and military support for friends from Ukraine to ensure Putin’s defeat.
“That is why I am today announcing an additional £175 million in aid to Ukraine, of which $100 million will go directly to the Ukrainian government,” Johnson said.
He noted that from now on, total assistance for Ukraine will amount to about 400 million pounds.
“After 12 days, it is already clear that Putin miscalculated. He underestimated the Ukrainians, their heroic resistance, and their leader. He underestimated the unity of the West,” Johnson said.
The British prime minister added that work to build unity would continue in the coming days to ensure that Putin was defeated in this disastrous invasion of Ukraine.
