FIFA banned the use of the flag and anthem of Russia in international matches involving the teams of the Russian Football Union due to its military invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported in a press release published on the FIFA website .

The Russian national team can participate in competitions in a neutral status, without a flag and an anthem, in accordance with the recommendations of the IOC.

FIFA also banned national football matches in Russia. The Russian national team will play all their home games on a neutral field and without spectators.

In addition, FIFA will discuss the possible removal of the Russian team from the competition.
