Italy will support the disconnection of Russia from the international payment system SWIFT .

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba after a conversation with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio.

“I had a conversation with the head of Italian diplomacy, Luigi Di Maio. Italy’s full solidarity with Ukraine. A colleague assured me that Italy would support Russia’s disconnection from SWIFT,” the message says.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on February 24, President of the United States of America Joe Biden stressed that Russia would not yet be disconnected from the SWIFT global payment system because of Europe’s position.

  1. Around 19:20 in Mariupol, shells hit the building of school No. 48 (there were no people in the building) and a 12-storey residential building, followed by burning.

  2. The Russians hit with missiles several foreign ships that were standing near the port in the Odessa region

Russian missiles hit two foreign ships that were on the outer roads of the port of Pivdenny.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one of them is a bunkerer Millenium Spirit under the flag of Moldova. There is no communication with the ship.

  3. From what I heard, Italy and Germany were the road blocks on this move. I hope both really have changed their minds.

It should be understood that Swift is not the end all. I learned yesterday that my understanding of the system was incorrect. It is an interbank communications system. It will make Russia’s life very difficult for a few months, but it can be overcome. Western Banks should make it known that there will be no financial interaction with Russian institutions at all.
