The United States of America imposes sanctions against the operator of Nord Stream 2 in response to Russia’s recognition of the terrorist organizations “LPR” and “DPR”.

“Yesterday, after close consultations between our governments, Germany announced that it was terminating the certification of the oil pipeline. Today, I ordered my administration to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG and its corporate officials,” Biden said.

The American president stressed that these steps are another part of the initial package of sanctions in response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, and promised to take further steps without hesitation if Putin continues to escalate.

“Through his actions, President Putin has given the world a huge incentive to move away from Russian gas and towards other forms of energy. I want to thank Chancellor Scholz for his close partnership and continued commitment to holding Russia accountable for its actions,” Biden added.
