Russians included in the EU sanctions list , including 351 State Duma deputies, will no longer be able to go to parties in Saint-Tropez or to shopping in Milan.

This was stated on Twitter by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

“No more shopping in Milan, no more parties in Saint Tropez, no more diamonds in Antwerp. This is the first step,” he wrote.

Earlier it was reported that EU foreign ministers  approved the first series of sanctions against Russia in connection with the recognition of the “LNR” and “DNR”. Sanctions, including an asset freeze, will affect 351 members of the Russian parliament who supported the recognition of the independence of the “LPR” and “DPR”, as well as 37 high-ranking officials and organizations from the defense and financial sectors. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not on this list.

Dozens of high-ranking Russian officials and politicians have been banned from entering the EU.

Restrictions have also been imposed on some financial institutions and the Russian state on activities in the financial market and in the European service sector. A trade embargo has been introduced for the “DNR” and “LNR”.

  1. “Russians included in the EU sanctions list , including 351 State Duma deputies, will no longer be able to go to parties in Saint-Tropez or to shopping in Milan.”

    That’s a joke, right???

  2. That’s a good step. The regime’s toadies have been doing a ton of business in the west while they rob their people to finance their lavish lifestyles. Freezing of assets is also a good move. There are moves, such as removing Russia from Swift, that are very good moves by themselves, but no one sanction is going to be crushing. Every possible sanction should be implemented, no matter how minor it may seem. It will be the totality of the sanctions that will clip the wings of Putin and his oligarchs that will have the backers of Putin looking askance at him, and looking for an opportunity to string him up.

Russia should be utterly impoverished by sanctions. They are no where near self sufficient.
