The White House reacted to Russia’s recognition of the “L/DPR” and announced the introduction of the first sanctions.

This is stated in a statement on the official website of the White House.

“We expected such a move from Russia and are ready to respond immediately. President Biden will soon issue an executive order prohibiting new investment, trade and financing by American persons in, from or in the so-called “DPR” and “LPR” regions of Ukraine. This executive order also will provide the authority to impose sanctions on any person who decides to act in these areas of Ukraine. In the near future, the State Department and the Treasury will receive additional information, “the message says.

Also, the Biden administration said that additional measures related to today’s “gross violation of Russia’s international obligations” will be announced in the near future.

“To be clear, these measures are separate and in addition to the quick and harsh economic measures that we are preparing in coordination with allies and partners if Russia continues to invade Ukraine. We continue to consult closely with allies and partners, including Ukraine, on the next steps and ongoing escalation from Russia along the border with Ukraine,” the White House added.

Also, President Biden will sign a decree aimed at banning the circulation of the US dollar in the L/DNR.

Recall that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin  decided to recognize the terrorist groups “DNR” and “LNR”. He also added that these “documents” will be prepared and signed in the near future.

  1. How embarrassing. I find it hard to believe these sanctions didn’t already apply to the occupied regions of Ukraine. Besides that, who in their right mind would invest in Putin-occupied territory? This isn’t even a slap on the wrist, it is an insult to my intelligence.

  2. This is a direct result of Biden’s statement that the West’s response could be more muted for a “minor” incursion .

  3. Of course, the rodent knew that sanctions would be applied for his farce, and of course he also knew that he can shrug them off. They are nothing but a bothersome fly, buzzing around.

Responding “immediately” by issuing an executive order, which will take X amount of days, after Y amount of reworking and after having passed through Z amount of offices. Expect the immediate (weak) results to be implemented by next month (or longer), when this has all been forgotten.
