Daily Mail says Macron made proposals to Putin that were not approved by France’s NATO partners

The UK is concerned about personal promises by French President Emmanuel Macron to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in an attempt to conclude a peace deal on Ukraine, writes the Daily Mail.

The French president positioned himself as a potential peacemaker in Eastern Europe after dinner with President Putin in the Kremlin on Monday. Sitting on either side of a 5m table due to Covid measures, the couple washed down the best meals with fine wines.

During the dinner, Macron made proposals to Putin that were not approved by France’s NATO partners, including Britain.

Macron’s apparent inability to consult with allies ahead of talks with Putin could render any agreement meaningless, the sources said.

His proposals included the neutrality of Ukraine, which excludes the entry of the former Soviet republic into NATO2

A senior government source told the Mail that President Macron did not consult with anyone about his peace proposal.

Macron’s proposal for neutrality is not supported by either NATO or the government of Ukraine.

But after the meeting in Kiev, Macron said he saw the possibility of talks with Moscow and Ukraine and concrete practical solutions to prevent war.

  1. “Macron’s proposal for neutrality is not supported by either NATO or the government of Ukraine.”

Ukraine need to tell this spineless sack of shit that he doesn’t represent Ukraine, or it’s allies.

    • And what happened to “no talking about Ukraine without Ukraine”?
This stuff is straight up offensive. Ukraine doesn’t carry around a white flag so France wouldn’t understand having a neighbor like Putin. Well, maybe if they remembered back to George III…..

      • Looks like the Frogs wanted to make a deal all on their own, without even NATO or the WH approval. Which from a Ukraine standpoint means a certain backstabbing by the spineless frogs,

        • Macron should know that joining NATO is in the Ukrainian Constitution. Just in case anyone would consider what Ukraine wants while they are treating Ukraine like it is some new territory that just sprang out of the earth.

What is your opinion?
