A Russian artist has been arrested for creating a snow sculpture in the form of a giant turd near a burial site in St. Petersburg.
Police and local media on January 17 said that Ivan Volkov was criminally charged for desecrating the burial place of the dead when he created the 5-meter-long sculpture.
The feces sculpture was in St. Petersburg’s Field of Mars, where graves of those who died in the 1917 Russian Revolution are buried.
Volkov, 29, posted pictures of the poop on Facebook and Instagram, commenting that he did not put “any particular meaning into the work.” The posts have since been removed.
If convicted, the artist faces a fine or up to five years in jail.
Volkov has created some 30 snow paintings or sculptures in recent years, including one honoring doctors treating coronavirus cases.

Anyone in Russia who is anti-putler gets poisoned, defenestrated, shot, tortured or locked up after a show trial.
The communists support putler, the Dugin nazis support putler, the far right nationalists support putler (ie the absurdly named Liberal Democratic Party of Zhirinovsky).
Who doesn’t support putler? The Navalny faction, which is right populist nationalist. Navalny is no friend of Ukraine or Georgia; very much the opposite in fact.
The only anti-putler faction that is democratic comes from the likes of Vladimir Kara-Murza and the exiled Gary Kasparov. They are liberals as we would define them.
