Help from Western partners in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, developing its energy independence and economic stability – this is the minimum that is needed for Russia to understand the high cost of invading Ukraine. Ukrainians are ready to defend themselves, but the world must remember that Ukraine’s security is a guarantee of its security.
This was stated by the leader of “UDAR”, the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko.
“We are grateful to our Western partners for observing the principle of“ nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. ”But diplomatic efforts should be strengthened by other measures. In particular, by the continuation and deepening of sanctions against Russia. Ukraine also needs help in strengthening its defense capability, developing energy independence and economic stability of the country. This is the minimum that is needed for Russia to understand the high cost for its invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainians are ready to defend themselves. But the world must remember that the security of Ukraine is a guarantee of its security, “Klitschko said.
He noted that the demands of Russia at the talks in Geneva, submitted in a dismissive and peremptory form, indicate that the leadership of this state is not in the mood for dialogue. The Kremlin’s goal is to find a reason to accuse the United States, the EU and NATO of disrupting the negotiation process in order to justify its aggressive behavior on the borders of Ukraine, Klitschko said.
The UDAR leader stressed that there could be no compromise on Ukraine’s foreign policy.
“Russia has no right to dictate its conditions to the community of democratic countries and to determine the foreign policy of sovereign states. Ukraine has unequivocally declared its desire to become part of the European and Euro-Atlantic communities. The European vector of development is not the choice of the Ukrainian government, but the choice of the Ukrainian people. Today the level of support is By Ukrainians, the movement in the EU and NATO has reached its historic maximum and continues to grow, as evidenced by sociological polls. Therefore, there can be no compromise on Ukraine’s external course – our course does not and should not depend on the will of a third country, “Klitschko said.
